Footballer Zaquan Adha announces retirement following non-renewal of contract
"I accept this, maybe my rezeki ends here."
SHAH ALAM - Former Harimau Malaya captain Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak bids goodbye to the national football arena after nearly two decades of service in the Malaysian League.
However, it was not the ending the 37-year-old striker wanted as he was only sent a letter informing that his contract with the Negeri Sembilan Football Club (NSFC) was not extended.
In an emotional interview with Astro Arena journalist Zulhelmi Zainal Azam, Zaquan said this was normal for a football player.
"The Negeri Sembilan team has actually been training for almost a week but I have not received any information from the management before.
"On the first night of Ramadan, I received a letter that my contract was not renewed.
"I accept this, maybe my rezeki ends here. When I only got the letter at the end (of tenure), my plans were affected. Which other team would I go to?
"I think I accept this with an open heart that it is the end for me with NSFC," he said.
Asked about his plans after this, the former captain of the Jang squad said: "I was born as a football player with Negeri Sembilan, so as much as possible I want to end my football career also with the Negeri Sembilan team.
"Indirectly, I want to continue coaching - that was the original plan. But, as I said earlier, luck hasn't been on my side and now that this has happened, I don't think I'll I'll go anywhere. I think I'll retire and not join another team to play.
"My world is football. When this happens, I think it's the end of my career as a professional football player. Maybe I will retire," he said. - ASTRO ARENA
