No preparation to welcome Ramadan in Gaza this year - Nurul Ain
SHAH ALAM - "In the past years, our family used to share pictures of Ramadan preparations, but things are different this year," says Nurul Ain Haron as she shares about the latest developments of her husband's family's situation in Gaza.
Nurul Ain, 37, who is married to Palestinian Mohamed AM Shaat said almost all of her husband's family members have lost their homes due to Israeli attacks.
"It is no longer safe for them to live in their homes which were damaged. It could collapse at any time. Recently, the Israeli forces entered my in-laws' house and tore apart the Quran and destroyed all of their belongings.
"For now, all our families there (in Gaza) are taking shelter in the provided protection centres," she told Sinar, yesterday.
Nurul Ain expressed her hope that the blessed month, celebrated by Muslims worldwide would bring a fresh hope to the Palestinians who are going through a difficult time.
She said for months, the people in Gaza have endured challenges, experiencing not just the loss of their homes but also death due to the brutality of the Zionist regime.
"Let us all pray that their sufferings would end this Ramadan. A month of happiness, victory and an end to the genocide," she said.
Meanwhile, Regional Muslim chairman Mohd Hakim Mohd Nor said the organisation will continue its mission to provide food and medical aid to Palestine throughout Ramadan.
He said the distribution of aid was being carried out directly to Gaza, particularly in Rafah, through a network of cooperation with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the country.
"Alhamdulillah, so far the distribution of aid is running smoothly through various efforts, including the Malaysian government's humanitarian operation through the Foreign Ministry. Our main focus so far has been on food and medical aid," he said.
He urged Malaysians to continue contributing to Palestine, taking the blessings of the month of Ramadan.
