Oppenheimer wins Best Picture award, Christopher Nolan wins Best Director at Oscars

ISTANBUL - 'Oppenheimer' won the Best Picture award, with its director, Christopher Nolan, also receiving the award for Best Director at the 96th Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

According to Anadolu Agency (AA), 'Oppenheimer' secured a total of seven awards, including Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr, and Best Cinematography.

The dramatic biographical film 'Oppenheimer,' released in 2023, explores the life and impact of J Robert Oppenheimer, the American physicist who played a pivotal role in the creation of the atomic bomb.

The film also enjoyed commercial success, grossing over US$900 million in box office receipts within the first four months following its premiere. - BERNAMA
