"It's the connection between India and the Malay world. It's more than just food, language, or clothing. It's a deep sense of intermix that deserves celebration," he explains.

John's admiration for the Mughal aesthetic is palpable, adding that the elegant style and tasteful attire have always fascinated him in many ways.

His journey to create this collection took him to Varanasi and Lucknow, cities steeped in Mughal heritage.

"In Varanasi, I immersed myself in the world of brocades. I opted for handloom fabrics for their distinct quality and texture. Each thread seemed to carry centuries of tradition," he said.

Lucknow, renowned for its exquisite embroidery, offered John a treasure trove of inspiration.

"With dosik, karigar, kamdani, and chikankari, Lucknow's craftsmanship is unparalleled.

"I wanted to incorporate these techniques into my designs, paying homage to their timeless elegance," he sid.

However, John's approach to the Mughal theme is not rigid.

"I don't stay true to it; I pick elements and infuse them with Malay influences. For instance, I replaced traditional pants with sarongs, giving a unique twist to the ensemble."

Central to John's collection is his choice of materials.

"I opted for muslin, a fabric rarely seen on the runway," he reveals.

John's attention to detail extends to his color palette, opting for subtle hues that evoke the serene beauty of nature.

"The beauty I appreciate is more subtle," he explains, "Like being in a forest and noticing the wild orchids—it's not about bright colors but rather the quiet elegance that catches your eye," he said.

As the curtains rise on John's Mughal-inspired collection, spectators are treated to a symphony of culture and creativity.

The collections had a perfect complete look with exquisite Indian jewellery sponsored by Habib Jewels.

Audiences were enthralled by John's collection, not only for its aesthetic appeal but also for the opportunity to engage with the garments on a tactile level.

Guests at the fashion show had the chance to touch and feel the luxurious fabrics, immersing themselves in the sensory experience of John's creations.

In addition to the exquisite clothing, the collection was complemented by Indian jewelry sponsored by Habib Jewels, adding a touch of glamour and authenticity to the ensemble.
