KUALA LUMPUR - An Opposition MP has alleged that some representatives from his bloc belong to the B40 group due to the Unity Government's decision not to provide allocations.

Kuala Krai MP Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman said that this situation arose because they had to share the allowances they received with people in need.

"After a year and four months under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) - Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition government, our allocated funds, chosen by the people, have not been disbursed even a single sen.

"Some of the MPs on this side (the Opposition) have fallen into the B40 category every few days because they had to distribute it with the people, especially at times like the beginning of the school season," he said during a debate at the Dewan Rakyat earlier today.

He further stressed that the current government's decision to withhold allocations from Opposition elected representatives not only breaks promises but also disregards rights and laws.

Abdul Latiff stressed that any ruling government should prioritise the well-being of the people regardless of political affiliation.

"Remember, the world is like a wheel. No one will last forever, and no one can hold up the sky.

"Therefore, this speech is a plea. The message I wish to convey is for our nation to love and care for each other, an effort to address all the people's issues," he added.
