Woman falls to death: Residents hear people quarrelling, screams

He was watching television in the living room of his house and heard the sounds of people quarreling followed by a woman's scream.

SHAH ALAM - 'I thought it was just a normal quarrel, but it ended in death.'

So said a resident, who only wanted to be known as Chan, regarding the incident of a woman who died after falling from the 23rd floor of a condominium in Setia Alam here, after she was believed to have been pushed by her partner on Wednesday night.

He said during the incident, he was watching television in the living room of his house and heard the sounds of people quarrelling followed by a woman's scream.

"I heard a rather loud sound followed by a scream; I thought it might be just a normal quarrel before hearing a thud.

"I thought something had fallen, but when I looked from the balcony, I saw a body lying motionless near the swimming pool on the seventh floor of this condominium," he said on Thursday.

Chan added that the incident was the first time it had occurred since he moved into the condominium several months ago.

"I did not expect it to end like this, involving death; before this, I had heard people quarrelling, but it never escalated to this extent," he said.

Another resident who wanted to be known as Siti, 30, described the incident as a brutal murder.

Meanwhile, Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the suspect, a local lorry driver, was arrested and remanded for seven days for further investigation into the incident.

He said they received the report of the incident at 10.02pm.

He added that the results of urine screening tests found the suspect positive for marijuana and had eight criminal records including drug offences.
