CYBERJAYA – Kings University College announces a transformative collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM), aimed at advancing cybersecurity education and research.

This landmark partnership was formalised recently with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signifying a significant step forward in the pursuit of cybersecurity excellence.

The MoU was signed by CyberSecurity Malaysia CEO Datuk Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab and Kings University College ViceChancellor Professor Dr Mohamad Salmi Mohd Sohod showcasing the shared dedication of both institutions to elevate the standards of cybersecurity education and research.

Salmi believed this partnership would pave the way for both parties to engage in collaborative research projects to address critical cybersecurity challenges facing industries, governments, and society at large.

"Kings is also working to obtain approval from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) for cybersecurity programmes to be offered as standalone diplomas, degrees, and master's degrees, rather than as embedded modules within existing curricula.

“In response to the rapidly evolving landscape of cybersecurity threats and the increasing demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals, Kings is taking proactive steps to elevate the status of cybersecurity education in Malaysia.

"By seeking MQA approval for standalone cybersecurity programmes, we aim to provide students with a comprehensive and specialised education that meets the growing needs of the industry,” he said.

Meanwhile, CSM's chief executive officer, Datuk Dr Amiruddin Abdul Wahab said they looked forward to working closely with Kings to nurture the next generation of cybersecurity professionals and drive innovation in cybersecurity research.
