SHAH ALAM - A video posted on X depicting two children sticking their heads out of a moving car's sunroof has gone viral, initiating speedy action from the police.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said preliminary investigations revealed that the complainant, who is a policeman attached to the Putra Heights police station got hold of a 29-second video on the Twitter account @anthraxxx781 showing two children sticking their heads out of the sunroof of a moving car on the road.

“The incident, believed to have occurred on Persiaran Putra Perdana, Putra Heights, on Feb 12, around 3.23pm, was footage from a dashcam.

“The car owner, a male resident of Putra Heights, will be summoned to provide a statement regarding the reckless act,” Wan Azlan said.

He explained that the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which deals with negligence toward children.

“If found guilty, the perpetrator could face imprisonment for up to 20 years or a fine not exceeding RM 50,000.

“Legal action will also be taken against the driver for failing to stop at a red traffic light," he added.
