Victims found in cockpit buried two metres deep, SAR team extricating bodies out - Police
Both victims are local in their 30s and 40s.
KLANG - Two victims including a pilot onboard were killed after the light aircraft they were travelling in crashed at Kampung Tok Muda, Kapar, earlier today.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed this, adding that the 1,300 kg aircraft plunged more than two metres deep at the palm oil plantation ground.
“We are in the process of extricating the victim. Both victims are believed to be in the cockpit which had plunged more than two metres deep.
“Both victims are local, the pilot is in his 30s while the co-pilot is an Air Adventure Flying Club Member in his 40s,” he told reporters in a press conference today.
When asked about the condition of the victims, Hussein could not confirm further since the operation to extricate the bodies was still ongoing and was expected to take about two to three hours.
“The condition of the body cannot be confirmed, and both victims are still intact.
“The process of releasing the body is still ongoing. The body will be taken out tonight,” he said.
Hussein further explained the difficulty of bringing out the body since the front part of the aircraft had been plunged more than two metres.
This makes the process delayed and the authorities need to be extra careful in collecting the aircraft parts.
“The debris of the aircraft was found within 50 metres radius around the crash incident.
“We also need to be extremely careful while excavating at the location of the aircraft,” he added.
