Level one heatwave warning issued for Langkawi and parts of Penang

LANGKAWI - Langkawi and four districts on the Peninsula have been classified as experiencing level one hot weather, with daily temperatures ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the other districts included were Pokok Sena in Kedah, Seberang Perai Utara, and Seberang Perai Tengah in Penang.

MetMalaysia noted that all four districts recorded maximum temperatures of 37 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days, prompting an alert to be issued.

"The daily maximum temperature in these districts ranged from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius for a minimum of three consecutive days," the statement read.

In addition to level one hot weather, MetMalaysia categorises temperatures between 37 to 40 degrees Celsius as level two and over 40 degrees Celsius as level three.
