SHAH ALAM - Thirty years after the tragic murder of Mexican pop star Selena Quintanilla, Yolanda Saldivar, her convicted killer, breaks her silence in a gripping new docuseries entitled 'Selena & Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them.'

In the docuseries on Oxygen True Crime set to premiere on Feb 17, Saldivar will share her story on the events surrounding Selena's death ahead of her eligibility for parole next year.

Saldivar who was the former president of Selena's fan club, had shot the singer at the Days Inn in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1995 shortly after Saldivar was exposed to have embezzled thousands of dollars from Selena's earnings.

She received a life sentence after she was found guilty of first-degree murder, with parole eligibility starting March 30, 2025.

Entering the age of 63 with a potential release date approaching, Saldivar felt compelled to address what she referred to as 'different versions of what was going on' and 'secrets' that she alleged Selena was keeping from the public.

"After so many years, I think it's time to set the story straight. My family gathered the evidence and it showed different versions of what was going on.

"I was scared. I was frightened. I knew her secrets and I think people deserve to know the truth," Saldivar said in a clip of the upcoming documentary.

The relationship between Selena and Saldivar shifted dramatically when Selena's father, who acted as her manager, discovered an embezzlement of $30,000.

Reportedly, Selena terminated Saldivar over a phone call just days before her tragic death.

In an effort to reconcile, Saldivar proposed a meeting at a Days Inn, asserting she possessed bank statements that could vindicate her.

It was during this meeting that Selena was shot in the back, leading to her death at the hospital.

Subsequently, Saldivar was apprehended, tried and convicted of murder.
