Fadhlina's education vision lacks clarity - KJ
Khairy voices concern over 'business as usual' approach in Education Ministry
SHAH ALAM - Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin raised concerns about the performance of current Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek during a recent podcast appearance.
While acknowledging her lack of grave missteps, he believed she hadn't presented a clear vision for the education system.
"I don't think she's made any catastrophic mistakes, but she hasn't shown a clear vision for the country's education.
He described her tenure as "business as usual," suggesting a lack of proactive measures addressing existing challenges.
"There are many questions about the education system.
"It needs work, and there's no single solution," he added.
He stressed the need for a multifaceted approach encompassing resource allocation, financial management, and tackling immediate concerns.
"I think she has not performed up to what a Minister of Education should be," Khairy said.
Last year, Fadhlina carved out a historical milestone by becoming the first female to serve as Education Minister.
Her tenure was reaffirmed during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Cabinet reshuffle on December 12 of the same year.
Prior to this reshuffle, she was under scrutiny for how her ministry managed the Palestinian Solidarity Week in certain schools, a situation she addressed with visible emotion in Parliament.
