PUTRAJAYA - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is set to have his statement taken by the police over remarks he made in a recent interview with foreign news channel Thanthi TV.

Sources indicated that the former Langkawi MP is expected to provide a statement at around 3pm.

"Based on the brief information received, Dr Mahathir will be giving a statement today at the Perdana Leadership Foundation, Putrajaya," the source told Sinar.

Dr Mahathir's assertion during a recent dialogue that the Indian community in the country is disloyal has garnered widespread criticism.

He suggested that the Indian community in the country is still closely connected to their home country.

The nonagenarian's statement was met with criticism from many quarters, leading some parties to file police reports in response.
