KUALA TERENGGANU - The Kuala Terengganu Court Complex had to be evacuated after receiving a bomb threat on Thursday morning.

Kuala Terengganu district deputy police Superintendent Wan Mohd Zaki Wan Ismail said the police received a call at 7.20am informing them of the discovery of a suspicious package in front of the gate of the court complex.

He said upon receiving the report, a team from Criminal Investigation Department of the Kuala Terengganu District Police Headquarters (IPD) and the Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) of the Kuala Terengganu Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) rushed to the scene of the incident.

"Upon arriving at the location there was a package placed in front of the gate. We have checked the package and it has been destroyed.

"The police have also inspected and cleaned the court complex. No other threats were found in the area," he said when contacted by Sinar, here, on Thursday.

Wan Mohd Zaki, however, did not detail the contents of the package involved.

The result of a survey at the scene of the incident found that part of the Kuala Terengganu Court Complex area was still closed until 12.45pm.
