KOTA KINABALU - A 10-year-old foreign child is among the individuals arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in a robbery case targeting tourists near the Kota Kinabalu city centre.

The young boy was apprehended along with three other adult male suspects, also foreigners, in an operation conducted in the city centre last Saturday and Sunday.

Kota Kinabalu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the arrests were made following a robbery case involving a Chinese tourist in front of a bank on Gaya Street.

"Two suspects arrested were also involved in car window-breaking incidents around Kota Kinabalu.

“In addition, two more suspects were arrested for a robbery involving a tourist from Sarawak in front of the craft market in the city centre," he said when contacted by Sinar on Tuesday.

The report indicated that none of the suspects had valid identification documents.

Police successfully confiscated several items believed to be tools used in robberies, such as knives, screwdrivers and a hammer, along with various items believed to be the items from the robbery activities.

The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and may also include a fine or whipping if convicted.
