Babysitter remanded in case of baby with bite marks

KLUANG - A 30-year-old babysitter was remanded to assist in the investigation related to the case of a six-month-old baby boy who was suspected to have bitten after it went viral on social media.

Kluang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the woman was remanded for four days following a report made by a 30-year-old complainant, the victim's mother.

"The victim's mother and the nanny live in the Taman Puteri Mas area.

"A check found that a police report was made by the baby's mother at 5.30pm, last Wednesday.

"The woman made a report regarding the case of a six-month-old child with bite marks on the body suspected to have been bitten by the nanny's three-year-old child," she said when contacted.

According to Bahrin, the police recorded the nanny's statement at about 10pm on Sunday.

He explained that the case was investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001 which provides for a prison sentence of not more than 20 years or a fine of not more than RM50,000 or both, if convicted.

It was reported that a woman who is believed to be the baby's mother through a post on Facebook on Sunday without revealing the location of the nanny's home shared the incident that happened to her baby.
