AMPANG - A misunderstanding is believed to be the cause of a man assaulting his wife at a residence in Taman Maju Jaya here on Monday.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said that in the 2am incident, a 45-year-old suspect got annoyed when his wife forcefully closed the door at their home.

"Subsequently, an argument erupted between the couple and the suspect proceeded to assault his wife using his hands.

"As a result of the incident, the 40-year-old woman suffered pain and bruising on her hands, legs and body," he said in a statement today.

Azam said that a medical examination at Ampang Hospital revealed that the victim had suffered soft tissue injuries on her hand, middle finger and right leg.
