Dubai Move: Who is the traitor? - Shahidan
KANGAR - Accusations of a covert "Dubai Move" to topple the federal government have been met with sharp rebuttal from Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
He viewed the claims, originating from Community Communications Department (J-Kom) deputy director (Community Communication) Datuk Ismail Yusop as a desperate attempt to divert attention from J-Kom's own past scandals.
"Is there really a Dubai Move? From what I see, he (Ismail) has created tension now, and it is an unwise act.
"He arbitrarily accuses certain individuals of treason and calls on the police to take action.
"The real traitors are those intentionally causing division and fear among the people, claiming there is a movement to overthrow the government and accusing us (PN) of treason," he said.
He made these remarks after attending the New Year's Eve Run 2024 in conjunction with Visit Perlis 2024-2025 at the Pengkalan Asam Runway yesterday.
Shahidan commented on Ismail's statement exposing the existence of the Dubai Move, allegedly orchestrated by opposition party leaders, including specific government representatives, with the same goal of toppling the unity government.
Over the weekend, Ismail revealed that the Dubai Move occurred during the vacation of PN leaders, including those from the government, in the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently.
He claimed that the meeting was held to discuss and assign specific tasks to 'officers' responsible for identifying MPs potentially shifting support to the opposition with incentives solely to establish a 'backdoor' government.
He further claimed that in addition to PN leaders, influential veteran political figures holding the title of Tun were involved in collaboration with the opposition, allegedly using 'foreign sources' to overthrow the administration led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Shahidan stressed that a police report would be filed regarding these statements as they can create tension and division among the people in the country.
