KLANG - Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will stand up to defend non-Muslims in the event of oppression of the groups in this country.

Its president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the move was in line with the 'Rahmatan Lil Alamin' approach brought by the party.

"We want many more non-Muslim groups to join us in our struggle because Islam is not only Malay, Indian or Chinese, but a blessing for all of these that we need to echo.

"In our fight Pas, don't take Pas' way, we have to take our own way of highlighting grace for all.

“Currently, oppression is happening to the Palestinian people, and one day, supposedly oppression occurs to non-Muslims. In that case, Amanah must defend that group," he said during his concluding speech at the 2023 Amanah National Convention in Klang on Sunday.

In his speech, Mohamad or better known as Mat Sabu explained that the threatened Islamic ideology played by the opponent also caused the party to fail to gain the support of Muslim Malays to the extent that several leaders of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Umno failed in the general election and last state election.

"The issue of endangered Islam captivates the people's minds until we see Amanah or Umno losing their numbers, imagine a hard-working minister losing to a 'cousin'.

"The great Datuk Mahfuz Omar lost with a majority of 31,000 while the Reformasi princess Nurul Izzah Anwar lost in Permatang Pauh which is the place where reform was born, this is due to the slogan being played that Islam is endangered.

"That perception is accepted by the Malays, including the intellectual area, this is a burden that we (Amanah) face and must be dismantled where the Muslim Malays are threatened," he said.

Commenting on the local authority elections (PBT), Mat Sabu urged the government to handle it carefully, ensuring a win-win situation for both sides without adversely affecting any oppressed group. "
