Worker suffers burns, three factories in Batu Caves engulfed in flames
AHMAD ISMADI ISMAILGOMBAK - A man sustains burns in a fire involving three factories in the Batu Caves industrial area here on Wednesday.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Chief Zulfikar Jaffar said the operations centre received a distress call at 11.49am.
He said that the fire affected a paint factory, a spare parts factory and a packaging factory.
"The victim in his 50s, who is also a paint factory worker, suffered burns on his hands.
"The victim was then treated by a medical team that boarded an ambulance from a non-governmental organisation (NGO) at the scene of the incident," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He added that a total of 13 engines from Selayang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) with the help of BBP Wangsa Maju, Rawang, Damansara, Sungai Buloh, Pandan Indah, Hang Tuah and Ampang rushed to the scene of the incident.
"The paint factory burned 90 percent, while the parts factory and packaging factory burned 20 percent, the fire was brought under control at 1.07 pm," he said.
