Monorail tire dislodges, catches fire
KUALA LUMPUR - Panicked commuters witnessed a monorail tire falling and igniting near the Titiwangsa Station earlier today, prompting a swift response from the Fire and Rescue Department.
City Fire and Rescue Department Operations Commander Senior Officer II Nooridzwan Mohamad Noor confirmed receiving an emergency call at 12.57pm.
"A team of firefighters from the Titiwangsa Fire and Rescue Station were rushed to the scene.
"Upon arrival, we found a monorail tire had detached and become engulfed in flames," Nooridzwan said.
The team promptly extinguished the fire using a water stream from their vehicle's pump.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
The cause of the tire dislodging and igniting is currently under investigation.
