Famous pop stars Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez was photographed attending a stand-up comedy show, with the proceeds of the event going to going towards humanitarian relief in Gaza.

The stand-up comedy show event was hosted by comedian Ramy Youssef in Brooklyn, New York, with other shows also held in Philadelphia, Washington and San Francisco, among other cities.

In addition to Swift and Gomez, notable celebrities like Cara Delevingne, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Zoe Kravitz were also seen attending the show.

However, the star-studded show quickly became the center of discussions and debates.

Some American and pro-Israeli supporters weren't too happy with the celebrities, criticising their decision to attend the show.

Swift, who has been evidently silent on the genocide in Palestine faced criticism from the Stop Antisemitism organisation.

"Since Oct 7, Taylor Swift has made ZERO mentions of the massacre that occurred in Israel at the hands of Hamas terrorists,”

“Her own bodyguard, who is charged with protecting her life, went to Israel to serve in the IDF.

“Swift did, however, make the time to attend a Gaza fundraiser Friday evening with Selena Gomez.

“When will you attend a fundraiser for Israel @taylorswift13,” Stop Antisemitism organization commented on their post calling up her action for attending the event without addressing the ongoing issues.

Meanwhile, Selena Gomez also faced the same thing where some social media users accused her of prioritising personal matters over taking a stand on the genocide.

In the same post, many users expressed their disappointment towards the singers.

@maya_goldin said “This is heartbreaking to me.”

Another user, @randomsapien commented “Not my person of the year!!”

Meanwhile @RvLrd said “This is a weird thing to do. She’s a singer.”

Some also questioned the neutrality of the charity, American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA), to which the funds from the comedy show were donated.

ANERA claimed no political or religious affiliation, focusing on providing aid to refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Jordan, but NGO Monitor has labeled it as highly political and biased.
