SHAH ALAM - Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni is looking forward to work with newly appointed Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad as he is a 'data driven person'.

Speaking to Sinar Daily, Lukanisman said Dr Dzulkefly plans to build on past achievements of the ministry besides shifting towards evidence-based decision-making in healthcare policies.

"We are going to embark on our digitalisation programme plan and Dr Dzulkefly also mentioned that we will be focusing on health care programmes which is important in the upcoming years.

"Currently, we are going to start engaging and creating a working committee, and we look forward to Dr Dzulkefly coming up with a work-based policy that will look into the welfare of doctors, as what was being worked on by Dr Zaleha," he added.

The Deputy Health Minister also revealed plans to establish a working committee which will engage health professionals to collaborate under Dr Dzulkefly's leadership.

The objective is to formulate work-based policies that will address the needs of medical practitioners and uphold the welfare initiatives initiated by former Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

Reflecting on the stability of the current government, Lukanisman commended Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the recent cabinet reshuffle.

"Our Prime Minister is doing very well he accepted new people into the cabinet to have a stable government," he said.

Dr Dzulkefly was the health minister during Pakatan Harapan's administration in 2018.

He was dropped from the Cabinet in 2020 after Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin took over the nation's administration.

After the 15th General Election (GE15) last year, Dr Zaliha Mustafa was appointed as the Health Minister.

During the recent Cabinet reshuffle, Dr Zaliha was placed in charge of Federal Territories matters under the Prime Minister's department, while Dr Dzulkefly was appointed as the Health Minister.
