Honda's new CR-V to redefine SUV market
KUALA LUMPUR - Honda Malaysia today officially launched its flagship sports utility vehicle (SUV), the 6th Generation All-New Comfortable Runabout Vehicle (CR-V) which is set to redefine the market segment.
Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Hironobu Yoshimura said the launch of the CR-V aligns with the current market trends and demand in the SUV segment.
"For the first three quarters of 2023, the CR-V witnessed a 10 per cent year-on-year growth in sales compared to the previous period. The model has also maintained its number one position in the non-national mid-sized SUV segment during the same period.
"With this new model, we are not just taking a step forward. We are making a huge leap in this segment,” he said at its launch here today.
Honda Malaysia received over 2,000 bookings in just one month prior to its launch, he said.
The company targets to achieve a monthly sales of 1,000 units based on current SUV market trend and demand. Delivery is expected within two to three months after booking, he said.
The model is available in four variants with prices ranging between RM159,900 and 181,900. The CR-V comes in four variants, three of which are turbocharged petrol units and the fourth, a hybrid.
The e:HEV RS (road sailing) variant available early next year is a new generation 2.0L model.
At the same event, Honda Malaysia’s vice-president (sales and dealer development) Sunita Prabhakaran said the company is on track to achieve the carmaker’s 2023 sales target of 80,000 units for all its models. - BERNAMA
