PETALING JAYA – What started as a routine patrol for the police quickly takes a turn when they uncovered an unexpected ketum distribution activity during a midweek spectacle!

The story unfolds under the city lights near Jalan SS 21/1 Damansara Utama as two mysterious characters roll through the night in a snazzy Honda CRV.

Petaling Jaya district deputy police chief Superintendent M Hussein Sollehuddin Zolkifly said the men aged 31 and 38 were arrested by the police team from the Damansara police station Crime Prevention Unit at 9.10pm for acting suspiciously.

“Subsequent inspection found five black plastic bags containing ketum leaves with an estimated weight of 100 kilograms.

"Further inspection inside the vehicle's compartment found 15 black plastic bags containing ketum leaves with an estimated weight of 300 kilogrammes," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Hussein said the seized leaves were valued at RM2,000 and could be supplied to up to 300 individuals.

Checks one of the suspects revealed that he had five past records related to crimes and drugs.

Both suspects were remanded for four days for further investigation and the case was investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poison Act 1952 (Amendment 1980).
