KUALA LUMPUR - Sime Darby Plantation Bhd has announced the resignation of its non-independent non-executive director Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan following his current position as Minister of Finance II.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appointed him as Minister of Finance II, in line with a Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday.

Amir Hamzah was appointed to the Sime Darby Plantation board on Feb 17, 2023.

Previously, he was the chief executive officer of the Employees Provident Fund and has more than 25 years of corporate experience.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, it said Sime Darby Plantation complies with Paragraph 15.02 of the Main Market Listing Requirements of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd in view that 4 out of 8 of the board of directors are independent non-executive directors.

"Following the resignation of Amir Hamzah as a non-independent non-executive director of Sime Darby Plantation, he has ceased to be a member of the Sustainability Committee of Sime Darby Plantation.
