PETALING JAYA - Three individuals believed to be drug addicts were arrested by the police after a mass DNA screening or DNA test was carried out at Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai, near here on Sunday.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the arrest of the three drug addicts who were residents of the area.

He said that urine tests conducted on the three individuals were found to be positive for drugs.

However, he said all the individuals arrested had nothing to do with the investigation into the murder of the autistic child Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

"It just so happened that when we (the police) did the mass DNA screening, all three tested positive for drugs.

"That's why we detained them to do a urine test for further action, but the three have nothing to do with the investigation of Zayn's murder," he said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Hussein confirmed that the results of DNA tests on the residents of Apartment Idaman were expected to be obtained within two or three days.

The DNA test was carried out as part of a 'mass screening' involving the residents of Apartment Idaman to track down the killer.
