PUTRAJAYA - Former deputy head of the prosecution division at the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) Datuk Raja Rozela Raja Toran was among nine individuals appointed as judicial commissioners.

They received their instrument of appointment as judicial commissioners from Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat today.

Raja Rozela, 58, who was previously with the AGC, led the prosecution team in Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s two corruption cases, one involving funds belonging to Yayasan Alkalbudi and the other, related to the foreign visa system (VLN).

Her last post before opting for early retirement last October was as the Director of the Special Litigation Unit at the AGC.

The other eight appointed as judicial commissioners included former lawyer Arziah Mohamed Apandi, 48, who is the daughter of former Attorney General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali.

The others are Datuk Hazizah Kassim, 51, Kan Weng Hin, 61, Mohd Rosli Bin Yusoff, 51, Tuan Gan Techiong, 58, Suriyati Hasimah Mohd Hashim, 51, Maslinda @ Linda Mohd Ainal, 49, and Saiful Azian Mokhtar, 51.

Their appointments took effect today.

Rozela, Arziah and five others took their oath of office before the Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah, while Maslinda and dan Saiful Azian took their oath of office before the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Sebli.

The ceremony was held at the Palace of Justice and also attended by Attorney-General Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh and former Chief Justice Tun Md Raus Sharif - BERNAMA
