Zayn Rayyan murder case: CCTV footage under scrutiny

PETALING JAYA - The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the murder of six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, with a focus on reviewing all available evidence, including closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid stressed that sensitive details about the ongoing investigation cannot be disclosed to avoid compromising its progress.

"The investigation encompasses all aspects and clues obtained, including CCTV analysis.

"However, revealing specific details could impede the investigation.

"We will update the public if there are any significant developments," he told Sinar earlier today.

Fakhrudin also confirmed that the investigation team was revisiting the scene where Zayn's body was found to gather additional evidence and potential leads.

"We are re-examining the location where the victim was found to identify any new clues.

"Efforts to identify the suspect have been ongoing since the discovery of the victim on Wednesday," he added.

Zayn, who was reported missing since noon in Damansara Damai, last Tuesday, was found dead in a stream located 200 metres away from his residence, on Wednesday night.

The boy was last seen at his home in Blok R, Apartment Idaman, Jalan PJU 10/1 Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya at 12pm.

Following that, the body of the child was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem.

An autopsy revealed injuries to the child's neck and body related to criminal acts, confirming the police's belief that the victim was killed.
