Isham Jalil has been expelled, says Umno council member
MUHAMMAD SHAMSUL ABD GHANIKUALA LUMPUR - Umno's Isham Jalil has been sacked with immediate effect.
A supreme council member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that Isham was given the boot for openly criticising both the party and leadership, among other reasons.
"He (Isham) has been expelled.
"He made many mistakes, asking the president to be expelled and resign, labelled Umno a DAP lackey, he does not follow the party's decisions, and he even invited the president to debate him openly.
"And this, I think (the meeting) is the fourth time he did not show up," he said tonight after the Umno Supreme Council Meeting at Menara Datuk Onn tonight.
He said the decision was made after the party found that Isham had committed various offenses against Umno.
However, Sinar Daily was unable to verify if Isham was removed from the Supreme Council or sacked from the party.
A statement issued by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki soon after the meeting did not mention anything about Isham, focusing on the Unity Government instead.
