SHAH ALAM - Do not panic if you happen to hear a warning siren in Klang tomorrow.

The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) will be conducting a test on the Tsunami Early Warning System (SAATNM) siren.

The test is expected to take place between 10am and 12pm.

In a notice uploaded on social media site X, the department said the test would be conducted at the Port Klang police station.

"Residents around the surrounding areas are advised not to panic by the siren sound as it will only be a test," it said.

MetMalaysia further said that it would inform the public if there are any changes to the plan.

SAATNM is a system managed by MetMalaysia that provides effective early warning to the public of a potential tsunami.

SAATNM issues warnings in the event of a tsunami in the Indian Ocean, Andaman Sea, South China Sea, Sulu Sea, Sulawesi Sea, and the Pacific Ocean, which could potentially affect the country.
