SHAH ALAM - DAP adviser Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang should focus on the internal problems of Pakatan Harapan (PH) - Barisan Nasional (BN) including the issue of loss of support and popularity experienced by Putrajaya.

Pas Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said this would be more beneficial to him instead of playing petty, hypocritical, hyperbole and speculative politics which would not help create a better, honest and democratic country.

"Pas believes that if Lim feels entitled to raise questions about the change in the leadership of parties other than DAP, then it would be more accurate and beneficial if he advises his allied parties in the government, especially Umno.

"The party is clearly losing support among its own members, let alone the public," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Takiyuddin at the same time insisted that Lim was not an individual qualified to talk about simplicity and openness.

"Because of his past history as a politician, as well as his current position as an adviser to a party that is still thick with racist and chauvinistic rhetoric.

"He can advise Umno which is clearly losing support among its own members, let alone the public," he said.

The Kota Bharu Member of Parliament added that Pas’ achievements under the leadership of Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang were the best when compared to the previous era, so its position was never challenged.

He said the question that Lim tried to raise especially regarding the position of the president who may be replaced by Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar was misguided and had no merit at all.

"The position of president has been challenged once, but still has the full support of members and delegates at every Pas Annual Meeting.

"Pas also has representatives in all State Legislative Assemblies in the Peninsula and controls the administration of four states," he said.

However, Pas thanked former Iskandar Puteri Member of Parliament for his congratulatory message following the success of Pas - Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Samsuri who defeated the BN - PH candidate during the Kemaman by-election on Saturday.

Takiyuddin said such a civil attitude was welcomed and could contribute to the cultivation of a more mature and prosperous political culture that is positive for the country.
