Police confirm summoning five witnesses in senior official's sexual harassment case
KUALA LUMPUR - The police has confirmed it has called in five witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation into a sexual harassment claim involving a senior officer from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said all the witnesses recorded their statements to assist in the probe.
"Up to this point, the police have summoned five witnesses.
"There are no plans to call in additional witnesses for recorded statements," he said in a statement today.
Razarudin added that the police have wrapped up the investigation papers on this matter.
These documents are slated to be submitted to the Attorney General's Office tomorrow.
He clarified that the actions taken by police are in line with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution.
On Nov 22, it was reported that the police were probing claims of sexual harassment involving an MMEA officer and a woman.
The investigation encompasses several legal provisions: Section 507A, Section 509, and Section 292 of the Penal Code, along with Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
