'I don't aspire to be PM' - Sanusi
ROSHILA MURNI ROSLIALOR SETAR – Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor insists that he never dreams of becoming Prime Minister.
However, Sanusi said he would not refuse if entrusted by the party to hold the position.
"I don't have any ambitions but if I am given the trust by the leadership I will try for the party, for the congregation, for the public but not for myself.
"I can't set a target and I don't have any dreams. Allah who sent me here, same as other leaders, if they go further, then the matter is left to the party congregation," he said when met after the State Legislative Assembly session in Wisma Darul Aman on Thursday.
He said this in response to a media report on Tuesday regarding the statement by Pas Mursyidul Am Datuk Hashim Jasin that the party had many candidates for Prime Minister such as Pas Deputy President Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, Pas Vice President Datuk Seri Idris Ahmad and several other leaders including potential young leaders like Muhammad Sanusi.
Commenting further, he who is also a member of the Pas Central Committee said that the position of Prime Minister could possibly be filled by a Pas leader as early as next year due to the fact that Pas has the highest number of parliamentary seats in the country.
"Before this I have said that in 2050, the Prime Minister will be from Pas but that is not the first. Maybe earlier than that, next year if possible.
"Pas has the highest number of parliamentary seats among the political parties in Malaysia. That is my basis," he said.
