Police to reschedule statement with J-Kom's Wahab, no arrest warrant issued
KUALA LUMPUR - Police are in the midst of coordinating with Community Communication Department (J-Kom) Assistant Officer Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani to set a new date for recording his statement.
Inspector-General of Police (IG) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said this arrangement was made through Wahab's lawyer.
"We have contacted Wahab through his lawyer to set another date for him to provide his statement," he said when contacted today.
Razarudin added that there is no need to issue an arrest warrant against Wahab.
"The J-Kom officer is an important witness to assist in the investigation into the case of the leaked explicit conversation video associated with the former J-Kom Director-General Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff," he said.
Yesterday, Wahab's lawyer, Faizal Abd Rahman reported that his client's son would provide a statement to the police soon.
The original schedule for Wahab's statement was delayed from last Saturday due to his health issues, reportedly related to depression.
On Sunday, Razarudin urged Wahab to come forward to assist in the investigation and promptly resolve the related case.
Information and statements from Wahab are crucial to confirm the role of 'Mr H' in the case.
Federal Police Crime Investigation Department Director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain stated last Friday that they had recorded statements from three people involved: Agus, 'Mr H', and a hotel employee present during the press conference.
The investigation is being carried out under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, addressing improper use of network facilities or network services.
