RAMALLAH - The Palestinian Commission for Detainees and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs revealed that the number of Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons exceeds 7,000 people, reported the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).

Citing the commission's Arabic-language statement on Sunday, WAFA reported that the Israeli army detained more than 3,200 Palestinians between Oct 8 and Nov 14, with the highest number from the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

This includes over 200 teenagers and children, 78 women in addition to hundreds of sick and injured people who still need treatment.

"A total of 29 out of the 41 journalists arrested are still in detention since Oct 7", according to the statement.

According to WAFA, the Israeli forces began intensifying field arrest operations a day after the Israel-Gaza conflict peaked on Oct 7, including raiding public premises, vandalising and destroying the homes of residents in Gaza in addition to beating the families of detainees - BERNAMA
