Two more international schools receive bomb threats

BANGI - The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has confirmed that two international schools in the district have received bomb threats since yesterday.

Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said the police received a bomb threat report from an international school at around 10am, while another complaint was received early this morning.

He said the complaint received from the international school this morning was obtained after the new management became aware of a bomb threat through an email.

"We received another bomb threat complaint early this morning around 8am, after the school opened its email.

"Swift action was taken by dispatching a bomb disposal unit and a team of explosives detection dogs from the K9 Unit.

"After the security flushing and checks were carried out, we found that there were no explosives or bombs in the area of ​​the international school," he said in a press conference, today.

Zaid said this after attending the Kajang District Police Headquarters (IPD) vehicle disposal and vehicle auction ceremony at the Bandar Baru Bangi police station, near here.

Also present were Bandar Baru Bangi Court judge Effandi Nazila Abdullah and Deputy Head of the Selangor Criminal Investigation Department Assistant Commissioner Nor Azizulkifli Mansor.

He added that all the actions taken during the security procedures at the school were in accordance with the standard operating procedures and that the school was asked to evacuate the building and move the students to a safe place.

Zaid clarified that after the inspection, the police did not find any bombs, explosives or anything suspicious.

"After the inspections, the police had handed over the school to the management and the school session went on as usual," he said adding that an investigation paper regarding the bomb threat has been opened.

Commenting on the disposal of case items, Zaid said it was carried out in accordance with the rules and regulations under the Standing Order of the Inspector General of Police and the provisions of the law under Section 406A of the Criminal Procedure Code.

He said the disposal involved commercial crime case items such as computers, mobile phones and ATM cards from the period of 2021 to 2023.

The auction session involved eight motorcycles and a car.

"The estimated value of the total disposal of case goods is about RM2.4 million and disposed off by destruction through the e-waste method and the sale of iron and solid waste," he said.
