Five elephants electrocuted in India's Jharkhand

NEW DELHI - Five elephants including three calves were electrocuted after they came in contact with a live high-tension electrical wire in India's eastern state of Jharkhand, officials said Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday night in the Musabani forest area of East Singhbhum district, about 174 km southeast of Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand.
According to forest department officials, the villagers reported the incident to them Tuesday after spotting the carcasses inside the forest.
Officials said they have made arrangements for the autopsy of the carcasses. A case has been registered and an investigation ordered into the incident. - XINHUA
