Madame Mariyah apologises to TMJ, says she's proud to be Johorean

JOHOR BAHRU - The owner of a textile store who runs a wholesale tailoring business in Skudai Johor, known as Makcik Kemboja, has apologised to Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim for insulting Malays.
The woman, who is also known as Madame Mariyah, appeared to beg for forgiveness through a video that went viral on social media, today.
In the 51-second video, Madame Mariyah or her real name Maria Yaakob appeared to make a plea for forgiveness following social media users asking for action to be taken against her.
"Bismillahirarahmanirrahim. Forgive me Tuanku and please pardon me. I am Mariyah Binti Yaakob from Mariyah Holding Sdn Bhd and I am proud to be a Johorean.
"I am too sad, thank you Tuanku, I am proud to be here and to be able to do business and I want to help more people. Thank you very much," she said in the emotional video.
For the record, Mariyah received strong criticism from netizens following her statement claiming that she was of Cambodian descent and works harder than the Malays whom she described as lazy.
Following that, Mariyah has since publicly apologised for her actions after pressure from netizens.
