KUALA LUMPUR - Gaza cannot be saved with mere speeches and rhetoric, Malaysian Islamic Organisations Consultative Council (Mapim) president Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid said today, urging for action to be taken following Israel’s violation of all international laws.

"The world remains powerless in stopping Israel’s atrocities, which enters its 43rd day. Israel has committed serious war crimes, which is backed up by much evidence and countless witnesses. Israel's war crimes in Gaza were planned, not a reactive response.

"Israel has violated 28 United Nations (UN) Security Council resolutions, which are legally binding on the UN Charter, Article 25 (1945); including resolutions 54, 111, 233, 234, 236, 248, 250, 252, 256, 262, 267, 270, 280, 285, 298, 313, 316, 468, 476," he said as he noted that every UN resolution regarding Palestinian suffering by Israel was violated and ignored as the Zionist regime continued to carry out criminal acts with impunity.

He said Israel's military operation was no longer about the right of self-defence but an act of outright genocide.

"We call for the immediate intervention of UN troops. No more negotiations. The war must stop now," he stressed as he stated MAPIM’s demand that the UN announce the deployment of peacekeepers to protect civilians and allow humanitarian aid to be delivered without restrictions - BERNAMA
