Agus admits it is him in the video, but the audio has been doctored
MUKHRIZ MAT HUSINBANGI – Former Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff and an assistant officer of the department Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani claim that the video of a lewd conversation linked to him is a complot by an individual nicknamed ‘Mr H’ to undermine his credibility.
Agus said that the video content was edited and shared on social media to bring him down.
"I want to say that the video is a (content) that has been doctored, edited and framed,” he said in a press conference here today.
On Thursday, a video of a man who looks similar to Agus circulated on social media. It had since garnered criticism from various parties.
Agus said an individual who is a politician had shown him the video before it was circulated but he did not take any action.
Following the circulation of the video, a police report was lodged at the Kajang District Police Headquarters (IPD) and he left it to his lawyer for further action.
"I thought I didn't want to prolong it but I did not expect this to happen.
"The plan (to resign) is another matter. I didn't know the video would spread," he said.
Agus on Thursday confirmed that he had sent a letter of resignation as J-Kom director-general to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said that the decision was made because he received a new job offer and not due to pressure from any party to give up the position.
Agus was appointed to the position in February but he and the department received many criticisms as they were deemed ineffective in playing their role in disseminating information related to the various benefits and incentives provided by the unity government to the people.
