Cancel Coldplay concert: Mufti emphasises importance of continuous efforts to liberate Palestine
KUALA TERENGGANU - The Coldplay: Music Of The Spheres World Tour concert scheduled to be held at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, on Nov 22 should be canceled at the last minute.
Terengganu Mufti Datuk Dr Mohamad Sabri Harun, stated that this should be done to express sympathy for the suffering and sadness endured by Muslims in Palestine at this time.
"The concert should be cancelled when the issue of boycotting contributions to Israel is currently being widely discussed.
"Contributions to elements associated with LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) and related matters should also be boycotted," he said when contacted by Sinar today.
Meanwhile, he said that Muslims are advised to continue striving to improve themselves, primarily by increasing their prayers.
"During the campaign to boycott or gather as a sign of solidarity with our Muslim brothers in Palestine, it is also necessary for us as Muslims to enhance prayers, especially focusing on our attention in the mosques in this country.
"As Muslims, we should enhance mosque activities and knowledge sessions to improve our worship to a better level every day and not stop at that alone.
"Boycott efforts should not be seasonal. It needs to be continuous to strengthen our efforts towards liberating Palestine, which is currently oppressed," he said.
In a related matter, Mohamad Sabri also reminded all Muslims to prioritise and not forget the affairs of the hereafter.
"What is most important in our lives is our ending before death, where we can recite the two testimonies and gain Allah SWT's approval.
"We do something for Allah SWT, not because it's a season, due to a certain issue, or to show off to others. Do something for Allah SWT.
"That is why we need to understand the concept of Tawhid and Islamic beliefs because it is the path to bring us to Allah SWT's approval," he said.
On May 9, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim welcomed the arrival of the famous British rock group on his social media, which will hold a concert in the country.
However, the visit of the group received criticism from some quarters as it is known publicly as a supporter of LGBT.
