KUALA LUMPUR - Out of respect for the situation in Palestine, Malaysia’s sweetheart Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza decided to postpone her large-scale concert scheduled for March, next year.

Instead, she planned to replace the concert with a charity performance to raise funds for Palestine.

"I'm postponing the concert due to the sensitive issue (Israeli bombardment on the besieged Gaza Strip and West Bank).

“But I intend to organise a charity event under my foundation, Yayasan Nurjiwa to collect funds for the Palestinians and show solidarity.

"This is what I'm thinking," she said after the launching of BeauSiti to introduce its new face, Rita Nadira at Hotel Royale Chulan, here.

At the same time, Siti was asked to comment on record label Universal Global's support for Israel and labeling Hamas as criminals through their recent Instagram posts.

"Their international stance is different from mine. What Universal Global expresses is not in line with my position. I remain steadfast and will continue to stand with Palestine. I'm 100 per cent with Palestine and that has been my advocacy from the beginning until now," she said.

The singer who recently emerged with the Sitism album also clarified that she was not under the company’s wings.

"I'm not their artiste, but the company distributes my products," she explained.

Siti also called on Malaysians and Muslims to continue praying and not stop providing assistance to fellow Muslims in need.

"I understand that a lot of aid hasn't reached them (Palestinians) yet. So, let's not stop giving support and aid to lighten the burden of our brothers and sisters there," she said. - AWANI
