GEORGE TOWN - Every Muslim should help and encourage the Palestinian people in their struggle to free their country from the grip of Israeli occupation.

Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Dr Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor said, it needs to be emphasised that Islam is not against Jews, but rather against Israeli colonialists, immigrants from European countries and from all over the world who are occupying the land of Palestine by forcing the original inhabitants to flee to neighbouring countries.

“We are not against Jews, rather, we object the Israeli colonialists behaviour, which includes forcing Palestinians from their nation and mistreating and persecuting its citizens.

"Hence, in the name of humanity, every Muslim and even non-Muslim should offer whatever support they can do to help the cause of the people of Gaza and Palestine.

"Those who want to help financially can channel it through the accounts of certain responsible non-governmental organizations (NGOs)," he said when contacted on Tuesday.

Wan Salim said that help can also be made by boycotting the products of companies that are proven to contribute to the illegal country.

"However, this boycott must be done with caution in order to avoid persecuting companies that do not contribute to the cause, such as McDonald's Malaysia restaurants."

"This is because the management of the restaurant chain has repeatedly insisted that it has never contributed to the state of Israel," he said.

He said, he supports the act of boycotting the products of companies that are proven to contribute to the Zionists who are fighting Muslims in Palestine.

"Such actions are expected to at least put some pressure on the companies to review their stance on the Palestinian issue.

"However, for those who face difficulties in continuing their lives and do not find other job opportunities to finance their lives and families, then they are required to work in companies related to Israel.

"Unless they labor in jobs where the dictatorship can utilise them to harm Muslims, like making weapons in a factory," he added.
