KUALA LUMPUR - Rumah Bonda's founder, Siti Bainun Ahd Razali's slim figure, attracted the attention of all parties present at the High Court here on Tuesday.

Siti Bainun wore a pink baju kurung and was accompanied by prison staff.

It is understood that the 31-year-old woman's weight reached 130 kilogrammes (kg) when she first set foot in prison on May 3, but has now dropped to only 90kg.

Siti Bainun, who was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment in Kajang Prison after being found guilty of neglecting and mistreating a teenager with Down syndrome, has lost 40 pounds in six months.

On May 3, the Sessions Court here ordered Siti Bainun to serve a 12-year prison sentence after being found guilty of two charges of neglecting and abusing Bella, 13, in a condominium unit in Wangsa Maju between February and June 2021.

The court also ordered Siti Bainun to sign a good-behaviour bond for five years with a guarantor and a surety of RM5,000.

She was also ordered to perform 200 hours of community service, which must be completed within six months after the end of her prison sentence.

On May 23, the High Court rejected her application to suspend her prison sentence because there were no special circumstances justifying the Rumah Bonda founder's release pending an appeal of the conviction and sentence to be heard.

This means the 31-year-old woman remains in prison pending an appeal against her conviction and sentence to be decided by the High Court.
