Did Christian Dior really replace Bella Hadid with an Israeli model as their brand ambassador?

Recently, news about the model getting dropped by the luxury brand made its rounds after the Palestinian-American model voiced out her support towards Palestine.

When Dior released its new holiday campaign featuring an Israeli model, May Tager, in the following days, social media users linked the two, suggesting that Hadid had been axed due to her statement.

Things were escalated when Dior did not issue a statement, prompting questions on the brand’s stance on the current Israeli colonisation of Palestine.

“Dior has replaced Bella Hadid with an Israeli model in their latest campaign. This comes after Bella Hadid came out in support of Palestine,” wrote a user on X, formerly known as Twitter.

However, a report by AP News claimed that the brand didn’t end its partnership with Hadid due to her statement.

In fact, it was reported that Hadid’s contract with Dior ended in March 2022.

Tager, one of the several models that appeared in Dior’s 2023 holiday campaign, was apparently also seen in the 2022 version, and both ads also featured actress Anya Taylor-Joy.

Previously, Hadid took to Instagram to show support for Palestinians.

“Seeing the aftermath from the airstrikes in Gaza, I mourn with all the mothers who have lost children and the children who cry alone, all the lost fathers, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunties, friends that will never again walk this earth,” she wrote.

The 27-year-old was named as brand ambassador for Dior’s make-up since 2016.
