KUALA LUMPUR - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has proposed for the Anti-Party Hopping Act to be reviewed due to identified weaknesses.

Its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the suggestion was made following the action of an MP in the party expressing support for the unity government which has yet to be decided by the court.

"Bersatu suggests that the Anti-Party Hopping Act passed by the Parliament several years ago, be reviewed due to perceived weaknesses.

"For instance, the case which has yet to be decided by the court involving a Bersatu member joining the unity government.

"The case is still awaiting the court's decision," he said when met at the Perikatan Nasional (PN) headquarters at Publika, here, yesterday.

Previously, it was reported that two more Bersatu members who were the Jeli MP and Gua Musang MP declared their support for Prime MInister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Pagoh MP said at the Speaker's level, it was decided that they did not violate the Act.

He claimed that the Speaker' position as someone affiliated with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) had influenced the decision.

"For me, this is not fair when we find that they violated the constitiution and crossed the boundaries, but the Speaker's perspective differs," he added.
