Syed Saddiq steps down as Muda President

KUALA LUMPUR - Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman vacated the presidency post for the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) party, which he helped set up.
He announced this during a press conference after holding a party meeting today.
Syed Saddiq said his position will be helmed by his deputy Amira Aisya Abd Aziz for the time being.
He said although he has given up the presidential seat, he was still a Muda member.
The High Court here today found Syed Saddiq guilty of four charges of abetting in criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of property and money laundering in connection to Angkatan Bersatu Anak Muda (Armada) funds, which is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's youth wing.
Judge Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid made the decision after finding that the defence failed to raise reasonable doubt at the end of its case. He was sentenced to seven years' jail, two strokes of the cane and fined RM10 million.
