KUALA LUMPUR - theSun newspaper which was relaunched yesterday (Nov 8) will provide its readers with different perspectives on the news of the day, besides to highlight the story behind the story in short, clear, precise and simple ways to ensure readers get the whole picture.

The relaunch ceremony was held at Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort, attended by Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

theSun’s acting managing editor, Navjeet Singh said the newspaper has started incurring a RM1 charge per copy to reach out to even more readers, besides to defray costs and continue supplying its copies to readers at a minimal cost.

"The demand for theSun newspaper has far outstripped our supply and has resulted in only the early visitors to our pick-up points getting the newspapers early in the morning, usually snapped up by 9.30 am in key areas.

"It is not feasible for us to print more copies to meet the current demand due to high cost of production, whereby the cost of newsprint has gone up over the last year, making it difficult for us to print more than 70,000 copies a day,” he told Bernama when contacted.

Navjeet said the cover price of RM1 helps in better planning of the newspaper’s circulation nationwide to support the idea of reaching more readers throughout the country.

He said with the newspaper having eight additional pages, each copy now contains a total of 32 pages.

"The eight pages consist of additional community news, business news (including Bursa Malaysia), world news, sports and an extra page on environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards, green energy, smart farming or banking and insurance,” he said.
