SHAH ALAM - Being suspended for eight years could be a devastating blow for many, but for Sazali Samad, a 10-time Mr Universe World Champion, it's merely a test from God.

"My eight-year suspension is a test from God," he told Sinar Daily when met recently.

Throughout the period of his suspension, Sazali absorbed invaluable life lessons that have transformed him into a more resilient individual, both mentally and physically.

Though barred from official competitions, Sazali, who describes himself as having a "gym soul," has never slackened his training regimen.

"Training never stopped, even during my suspension.

"I've got what I call a 'gym soul'; I'm bound to the iron.

"Even during the pandemic lockdowns, I continued my workouts at home using dumbbells.

"From abdominal exercises to diet management, I've kept my regimen as strict as ever," Sazali revealed.

Sazali has also been leveraging social media to maintain a strong connection with his audience.

He's particularly active on Instagram and TikTok.

"I've got a lot of followers who are keen to see how I go about my daily routine.

"They appreciate my live workout sessions, where I teach simple exercises and engage with them in real-time," he added.

When asked about the crowning achievement of his bodybuilding career, Sazali proudly cited his 10 Mr Universe World Champion titles.

And he has high hopes for his son, Muhammad Hazim, to follow in his footsteps in the world of bodybuilding.

"My greatest achievement so far is securing the Mr Universe World Champion title.

"It's no easy feat, and I hope my son Hazim could reach similar heights.

"Even if he doesn't win 10 titles like I did, I hope he earns the World Champion title, God willing," Sazali said.
